John and Tosha’s E-session

Brrr!  It’s getting chilly outside, and more and more difficult to schedule sessions on account of me shooting on location only.  The outdoor locations available out-number the indoor ones by far, but we lucked out and found a great little spot in Maryville for John and Tosha’s Engagement session.  After we played inside, they were brave enough to face the elements for a quick outdoor session.  I think their red noses are kind of cute!  We noticed a realtor’s sign with John’s name on it, and couldn’t resist the photo op!  We uncovered John’s secret double life as a realtor in Mur-vul (say with a twang, now, y’all) . . .  Enjoy your preview!!

The Harper-Lane Family

Well, this is something you won’t normally see on this blog–good old traditional family portraiture (dare I say, “normal”? I love changing things up-this was a good exercise in the fundamentals of shooting indoors for me!) I got a call from Rene (aka Willie) a few weeks ago. She said she just loved her co-worker’s wedding photos (thank you Bill!), and wanted portraits of her and her family. Her Husband, Paul was in Iraq and was coming home for a short period of time over the Holidays. I agreed to come to their beautiful home in Knoxville for their portraits, which was really the only place we could go on account of this wet, chilly weather! I hope you all like your preview! Thanks for having me! Merry Christmas!

Happy Merry Chrismahanukwanzakah!

Tis the season! Thanks to an overwhelming holiday season–we skipped holiday cards this year. So, Happy Merry Chrismahanukwanzakah! I know that my mom is just dying to see these . . .

Boru made sure nothing happened to the presents while we waited for all of the family to arrive at Papa and Grandma’s house.

Still waiting . . .

Papa and Grandma (Brian’s folks) opening their gift outside:

It’s hard for a one-armed man to push mow a big yard. Papa liked his gift.

And the madness begins . . .

Yeah, those are Nanny’s stylin’ elastic ankle sweats.

This morning, Boru slept in, but Odelia woke him up to tell him that Santa came!

Hooray for Dental Hygiene!

Um, no comment, other than I am so happy the recycling center is open tomorrow.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Josh & Christina’s Wedding

Joshua and Christina were married on December 6th at Cornerstone Church in Knoxville.  As I pulled up to the church it began snowing–but just a few flurries, nothing to get excited about.  Josh and Christina both caught lovely colds before the wedding, but they were so brave to step back outside for a few portraits.  These two are so in love, and it really shows in their photos!  I’ll let the photos tell their story.  Hope these were worth the wait, you two!  Stay tuned for their Holga and Bridal photos!

James caught this shot of Josh’s sister, Tami and her baby, Cara. How beautiful! Good job James!

Nebraska: Dustin & Rachel’s wedding

It’s kind of tough to find a starting point, but I’ll try! Rewind about 10 years, and you’ll find Dustin and Rachel in high school . . . and me too! We all went to High School together (including a large number of the wedding party). Dustin even took me to prom our junior year . . . BUT, I technically took Rachel to prom senior year, when I convinced her and 5 of our other girlfriends to go stag in my ’66 Galaxie.

Memories!!

So, you can imagine that this wedding was A LOT of fun for me. It’s a little bit easier to take photos of people you already know! Dustin (aka DRut) and Rachel were hitched in Lincoln, Nebraska at Messiah Lutheran Church on November 22nd. I must give a HUGE THANK YOU to Ben Ramos and Laura Menard, both photographers from Omaha, who stuck out the long day with me, assisting me and shooting as well. I’ll do a little narrating as we go:

Getting ready at the salon:

Linda is such a goofball!

Not only did Dustin and Rachel see each other before the ceremony, they invited the entire wedding party along for a limo ride around Lincoln. THIS WAS SUCH A COOL IDEA! We had plenty of time to just relax and play and take photos at locations like the state capital, as well as Memorial Stadium (for the non-Husker fans, that’s the 3rd largest town in the state on game days).

After our tour of Lincoln, we had a little “down-time” at the church. And of course, more photos of just the bride and groom.

Formal photos don’t always have to be formal. I love you guys! Dustin, dear, I haven’t seen that face since school! You dork!

Aha, and then the reception.

The entire wedding party choreographed a routine to a medly of reception favorites, such as “Thriller”, “The Macarena”, “Bye Bye Bye” (N’Sync), and a bunch of others that I can’t remember because I was laughing so hard!

Woo girls . . .

Dustin’s Uncle’s band provide live music at the reception . . . live kareoke! Dustin only had one special request, that they learn “Ice Ice Baby” to start the party.

“All Right, Stop . . .”

Hattie had too much to drink.

Oh Michael. I love you! He survived a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq. The other 2 soldiers in his Hummer weren’t so lucky. Read Michael’s story by clicking here. They couldn’t break his spirit!

And holy cow! Nic caught the garter . . . run ladies, run!

This fine rear belongs to Clint, who’s responsible for the photo of Jill and I in the previous blog.

Congratulations you two!
