SNOW!

“Hey Mama! It’s snowing!” was the first thing I heard after breakfast this morning. I did my best to find some snow clothes for the kids, but when it only snows once a year, it’s not something we keep in the house. We lasted about a half an hour until we were all soaked to the bone. It’s already melting away . . .

My favorites

Well, just a few from the past year. I intended on posting this blog earlier in January, but I’ve been working on other things. The resolution isn’t the best–but it’s a pretty little slideshow. Enjoy!

2009 Bridal Show

Thanks for making it a hit! I’m exhausted, and my office is a mess, but it was worth it.

My booth:

I was a little surprised to see one of my brides as a Vendor! Miss Dianna was there to get brides to kick butt, and lose the winter weight! This is a brilliant idea. It’s wonders for stress.

I really love Canvas Gallery Wraps

Meet the show stopper: the 8×20 monster album. It really is the creme de la creme of wedding albums, weighing in at 15 pounds. If you didn’t get a chance to see it in person, schedule a consultation just to see it. I saw countless jaws literally dropping when brides saw this album (photos do not do it a bit of justice):

And me! Get a good look at me gussied up, because it rarely happens. I’m a tshirt and jeans girl, but If I get the chance, I love getting girly. Wouldn’t this dress be adorable on your bridesmaids???

Thanks for stopping by my booth!! I had so much fun this year!

Jeffrey and Kelley’s Wedding

My last wedding of 2008 was with Jeffrey and Kelley at the Norris Dam Tea Room. If there were ever a couple who deserved a great night to celebrate their marriage, it was these two. I have all the respect in the world for Kelley. Up until December 27th, she was a single mother of two amazingly adorable little boys ( a 3 year old and 2 year old!). She also worked 2 jobs while taking care of her little men. Kelley suffered another burden when her father passed away last September after losing his battle with cancer. She is a tough woman.

Now, Let’s talk about Jeffrey. Jeffrey had spent the last 15 months in Iraq, only to come home 2 weeks before his wedding. There really aren’t words, nor could I begin to comprehend what they’ve been through . . . but it’s just a nice feeling to know that these two are finally together. But that’s not all of their story! Weeks before Jeffrey was to begin his duty overseas, his truck was stolen from his parent’s front yard. I don’t know how long it was gone, but by the grace of God, it was recovered in a chop shop in Roane County. The community believed that this soldier deserved to come home to a little luxury, and raised enough donations to have his 1984 Ford truck fully restored. You can read the story by clicking here and here.

I’m so happy for you two. I hope your new family had a blast at Disney World. Congratulations!

Welcome 2009: Giving is Awesome!

Let’s start off 2009 right. The holidays may be over, but giving is awesome all year ’round.

I am giving away over $1000.00 of portraits to a deserving individual or individuals.

Do you know someone who shines above the hardship placed on them? Is there someone who is just a beautiful person (on the inside) who would be thrilled with the gift of portraits, but hasn’t the finances to afford professional photographs?

Tell me about them please!

The winner will receive a free portrait session with $650.00 worth of prints and products (total winnings valued at $800.00)!

Send an email to:

tara@dixiepixelphoto.com

BY February 28th of 2009

The winner will be announced here on my blog on March 31st, 2009.

The Rules:

1) you may not nominate yourself
2) the winner must be within 100 miles of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, or willing to partake in a session within this radius.
3) emails with just names will be disqualified–I need a reason why this person deserves to win.

AND FINALLY . . .

The person who sent the winning nomination will receive a free portrait session, valued at $350.00.

And, in 2009, I’m giving to myself. I’ve decided to make a book, annually, of my favorite Holga images. Volume 1 should be here soon.

Happy New Year.
