opalka-0019The film FINALLY came in!  I had a couple of Holga’s working their wedding.  Wes Hope was snapping away on his plastic camera, and the majority of the black and white images are his (I honestly can’t remember which ones, so let’s just say the “good” ones are his :)   Perfect camera for a wedding in an 1800′s primitve church, huh?

opolka-8599Finally, their day after photos!  After Tim and Kate’s wedding, we did the only INSANE thing to do–go back into the tourist trap known as Cades Cove on a holiday :)   I’ve got a serious love/hate for Cades Cove.  I love love love the scenic backdrops, but I am not a patient person, and the one-way 11 mile road at 10 mph literally takes all day!  However, I must say, that it was worth it.  We had to bust some butt to get out of Cades Cove to get them to their reception on their wedding day, so there was really no time for portraits of the 2 of them in the park.  The perfect solution:  a day after session.   We got some beautiful afternoon sun, which provided killer light for our session.  And of course, we shot into the night after the sun went down.  Kate was my first 2 dress brides, she wore a modern gown for their ceremony, but for the reception she donned her Grandmother’s wedding gown, from the 1940′s. Isn’t it beautiful?

Yeah, I’m blogging way out of order (I’m sorry! I know that there are so many of you patiently waiting to get a sneak peak of your AWESOME-O photos! Not too much longer.)  Kaitlin’s mom contacted me for a very last minute senior session, wanting something different after being disatisfied with the boring yearbook headshots.  Kaitlin graduates in 3 weeks, so I had to get to work fast.  Well it turns out that I loved every single photo and I couldn’t wait to finish these.  Just picking my favorites for the blog has proved difficult, I could have easily posted every single image from her session.  How cool is she?  And how cool are my super locations?  Kaitlin earned plenty of awesome points for climbing a tree, high-stepping poison ivy, sinking into the ground, dodging bees, and basically doing whatever I asked. :)   You rock, Kaitlin.  Congratulations for finishing the pain in the butt known as high school!

opalka-8262Tim and Kate planned a destination wedding to Tennessee.  They had an absolutely charming vintage wedding in the Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove.   They had that tiny little church packed wall to wall with guests who all made the long trip in for their wedding.  We spent a LOT of time on the road that day.  Cades Cove is not a place to be if you’re in a rush, so we had a lot of great planning to get us everywhere on time.  After the ceremony at Cades Cove, we ended their day back at Brother’s Cove for a beautiful reception.  It was my first time there, and I’m excited to go back next month for another wedding!  Tim and Kate included a 2nd shooter in their package, so I asked Wes Hope of Hope Photography to come along and shoot with me.  He kept the long car ride entertaining :) (keep your eye on his blog for some of his awesome images from this wedding!).  This is not the end.  I am still waiting on their Holga film, and have yet to finish their newlywed session images.  I know you’ve been waiting so patiently for these, Kate and Tim!  Enjoy–and stay tuned for more.

word-8926I had a great run of keeping on schedule with my blogging, but I knew it would only be a matter of time before I fell behind.  These are just a couple of sneak peaks from Tim and Kate’s Cade’s Cove wedding, and then Junior and Heather’s San Juan wedding.  Be sure to check back soon to see more from these 2 incredible weddings.  Oh, and today, I am 26.  I got 2 new fishies, whom Boru named Lightning McQueen and Sally.  I spent the weekend in Puerto Rico, and now I’m back home and hanging out with my kids and my parents.  It’s an awesome day!

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting to tell you guys, but please go vote for the best of Knoxville!:

hurst-7197After I photographed Hans and Sara in Sevierville, I think I cursed East Tennessee with snow.  I could have sworn that Spring was here, and their photos are proof!  It was such a gorgeous evening.   I am in love with the sentimental location they chose, Sara’s late grandfather’s farm.  It really reminded me of Nebraska, with a few more hills of course.  The backdrop was never ending, and dare I say, it was easy to get a good shot with the yummy golden sunlight.  It sure was refreshing to shoot in nice weather for a change!  I’m really looking forward to their wedding this July at Almost Heaven.  Leave some blog love!
