word-0311What a wedding!  You’ve already seen day 3, and now here’s day 1 and 2 from our adventures in San Juan.  Junior and Heather’s nuptuals were held at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan, with reception at the El San Juan Resort & Casino.  The day started off HOT, but oddly, no different than a sticky Tennessee summer, so I guess we were kind of used to it.  While wondering through the El San Juan to find Junior’s room, we met their videographer, Francisco Ferrer of Ferrer Video Productions.  Not only did Francisco help us find Junior’s room, he also shuttled Brian and I AND all of my equipment back and forth between the 2 hotels numerous times throughout the day, saving us some major cash in taxi fares.  Francisco and Mirna, you guys rock!  (I HIGHLY recommend them if you’re looking for a videographer, so incredibly professional!)

Once I got a few shots of Junior, our next stop was the Ritz Carlton to snag a few photos of Heather and girls getting ready.  Meanwhile, Lisa and Ashlee from One Enchanted Evening were behind the scenes doing all of the dirty work.  These ladies certainly earned their pay after a rain storm put a 90 minute delay on the ceremony!  Lisa and Ashlee, as well as the awesome staff at the Ritz, did an incredible job keeping everything perfect.  Luckily, nothing was ruined during the surprise shower.  I guess we brought a little bit of Tennessee weather with us!

The ceremony was so incredibly beautiful as all of the spotlights lit up and sparkled on the wet patio.  Junior’s father and God-father officiated the ceremony.  Heather said it was perfect, and that is all we needed to hear.

We ended the night with an incredible celebration at the El San Juan.  It was just breathetakingly beautiful.  Because of the 90 minute rain delay and Junior and Heather not wanting to see each other until after the ceremony, we still needed a good wedding party photo.  Well, the Lobby at the El San Juan was full of hotel guests, but I begged our way into the VIP room.  We were all set to take the photo, when Junior asked, “Hey, where’s Johnny?”  Not 2 seconds later, Johnny walked in, looking pretty damn fine.  I’ll let you figure out which groomsman is Johnny.  Security DID NOT find his wardrobe funny (I did.), and tried to escort him from their hotel during our photo shoot.  Southern Charm won, and we got our photo.

I will never forget this wedding, it was so much fun.  I am so happy you had me along.  Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Word!!

Meet Junior and Heather! I know it’s out of order, but these are from the day after their wedding.  Wedding photos coming soon.  This beautiful couple invited dixie pixel to their destination wedding in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  I’m happy to say that I survived my first “beach” destination wedding! There’s so much to say about their wedding, but you’ll have to wait for another blog post.  I had to force my old man, Brian, to come along as my assistant and he did a great job carrying all of my crap all over Old San Juan.  We fought the crazy traffic (seriously, crazy.) and the bazillion tourists and locals hanging out at the fort.  It was a beautiful day for kite flying, and there were close to 100 kites over our heads while we there.  It was really beautiful.  Heather and Junior got the celebrity treatment–Heather was even cornered by some little admirers :)   Just adorable!  Because our session took place at high noon (due to Brian and I having to be at the airport by 3pm), I started off by playing it safe in the open shade along the beautiful buildings . . . but dude and seriously, where is the fun in that?  (in case you’re wondering what the hell I’m talking about–it’s a golden rule in portrait photography to AVOID high noon sunlight like the plague because it’s not “pretty”.  Whatever.)  Once we finished in Old San Juan we played chicken in the traffic and got back to the AMAZING El San Juan resort for some more stunning portraits.  Finally, we ended on the beach.  We didn’t plan a “trash the dress”, but sometimes, it just happens.  And Heather is friggen awesome for accepting the fact that it’s okay to get an expensive dress dirty for the sake of art.   Stay tuned you all.
