knoxville bridal show 8.9.09

A huge thank you to my incredibly awesome, sexy, wonderful husband who built my booth in the insane heat, painted it, and then loaded it up and drove to Knoxville for me (oh, and Charlie helped. He’s got the truck. Thanks Chubbs!!). I was shooting Jon Paul and Jackie’s wedding on Saturday, so I couldn’t do it myself. Thank you to James who forced himself out of bed (after shooting a solo wedding the night before–way to go James!) to come help me hold down the fort.
AND— a huge thank you to the Premier Bride staff (esp. Pam and Rachel. Thank you for your quick action!) and the lady at the Knoxville photobooth (I didn’t get your name, but thank you!!). After the show was over, Brian and the kids arrived to help me tear down. My wonderful, little, accident prone daughter was being her normal self, and wiped out on the slick floor, only to smack her chin on the ground, and pop it open. That poor child got a gnarly gash on her chin, was bleeding like CRAZY, and as I ran her through the mess of post-bridal show madness, the staff was right behind me to help me doctor her up in the ladies room. Thankfully, Odelia didn’t scream for too long, and we avoided a trip to the emergency room for stitches. She is going to have a nice scar. Considering yours truly had stitches in her face at 3, and a cast on her arm by 5, I think she’s following in mom’s footsteps. And thanks to James, again, who kept Boru busy while Brian loaded up the booth, and I attended to the girl.
And here’s me, running into James’ shot of the booth, with a mouthful of YUMMY food from Luxe catering!
Okay, now back to work. I’ve got 3 weddings coming to the blog soon:
Sarah & Kevin
Jackie & Jon Paul
English & Carlos
and, of course, some more crazy awesome portrait sessions.
stick around.

The month of may was last month for my holga. She died a slow painful death of a stretched spring in the shutter. I only wish I could have caught it sooner. But I find peace knowing she’s in a better place with her predecessors, in Boru and Odelia’s toybox. These were her last images from Nick & Lauren, Mark & Mary and Garrett & Kim (blog coming soon!) RIP, Holga #4. But, I happily welcome my Holga #5, which is PINK (and awesome)! Pink Holga made her debut at Cap & Shannon’s wedding on June 6th, so I have yet to see how she’ll get along with the dixie pixel family until the film returns. And yes, there is so much more coming . . . weddings and portraits and holga . . . oh my!

a portrait of me.
As taken by my darling 4 year old son, Boru. I HATE having my picture taken, but I LOVE this photo. I had a few frames left after Jimmy & Whitney’s wedding, so I gave the Holga to Boru. He’s amazing, isn’t he?
Rebel Salon
This shoot was so long ago, I don’t even know when we did it! I met Krista and her models in a parking lot downtown for a nighttime, Sin City inspired shoot. Check out that hair! You can tell how fast the light was going by looking at the disappearing color in the backgrounds. And yup, the last 3 shots are multiple exposures . . . I’m becoming obsessed with light painting!

AND, Krista made me blue. I look like such a dork in this photo (I really hate having my photo taken!)
